RENO, Nev. (AP) — A federal judge in Reno has temporarily halted Harvey Whittemore’s trial on campaign finance charges after one of the jurors was overheard making a comment that raises questions about whether he can be fair to the former developer and lobbyist.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports Whittemore’s lawyers want at least one juror removed from the panel.
Judge Larry Hicks told attorneys before the defense was to begin presenting its case Thursday that someone told a court clerk after the prosecution rested its case Wednesday that the juror complained about having to listen to the other side’s bull.
