PHOENIX (CBS Las Vegas/AP) — Hundreds of Phoenix police officers have attended the kindergarten graduation of a fallen officer’s daughter.

Officer Daryl Raetz was killed Sunday in a hit-and-run accident as he was conducting a DUI stop.

The 29-year-old Raetz was an Iraq war veteran and had been a Phoenix police officer for six years.

Photos on the police department’s Facebook page show hundreds of officers lining the walls and the back of the auditorium for Wednesday’s graduation ceremony for Tatum Raetz.

“We tried to keep this to Daryl’s squad and his precinct but the word got out that this was happening and … within the department … there was absolutely no way that you could keep officers who could be here away from here. They came, even with their families,” the police department posted on its Facebook page.

The officers also posed for a group shot outside the kindergarten.

Police announced earlier Wednesday that Daryl Raetz’s funeral is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday at Christ’s Church of the Valley in Peoria.

Immediately following the service, he will be buried at Phoenix Memorial Park.
