(CARSON CITY, NV, KXNT)– The Nevada Supreme Court, which last week ordered that oral arguments be heard in the case of the dog that killed a baby in Henderson a year ago, has now set the date for the court case.
Arguments are now scheduled for the morning of July 3rd in Carson City.
The case centers on Onion, a 120-pound Mastiff/Rhodesian mix, which killed the young child on his first birthday at the family home.
The family gave up the dog, saying they wished for it to be put down. The city of Henderson prepared to euthanize the dog, but several animal rights and rescue groups objected, and worked to have Onion taken to a sanctuary.
When Henderson prevailed in court, the animal group Lexus Project appealed the case to the Nevada State Supreme court.
Onion remains housed at Henderson’s animal control facility until a final ruling is rendered.
