ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Albuquerque police say a man was killed on Interstate 40 when he was run over by his own vehicle after he got out to remove a bicycle stuck under the vehicle.
Officer Robert Gibbs says another vehicle carrying household items spilled its load, including a mountain bike, onto the freeway Monday night.
Another vehicle ran over the bike and that driver stopped to remove the bike lodged underneath.
A third vehicle then rear-ended the vehicle that had the bike stuck underneath it. As a result, the man trying to remove the bike was run over by his own vehicle and killed.
His identity hasn’t been released.
