(Las Vegas, NV) —  In celebration of Earth Day, Tina Quigley, general manager of the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) recognized a Las Vegas Academy student who won the agency’s annual Earth Day art contest Monday.

Junior Jessica Judd is one of two winners and now has her artwork on a transit vehicle.

Students from across the Las Vegas Valley in grades six through 12 submitted artwork that they created to celebrate Earth Day and the RTC’s sustainability initiative, “quicker, cleaner, greener.”

The students were encouraged to design their artwork to specifically promote and support the messages of Earth Day and sustainable transportation options with images of transit, carpooling, bicycling and walking.

The artwork of the top two winners was selected by a community online vote and will be featured on the outside of an RTC transit vehicle for up to one year.
