Las Vegas – Floyd Mayweather Jr. has confirmed that his father Floyd Mayweather Sr. will take over as his trainer and will be in his corner on May 4th when he defends his welterweight title against Robert Guerrero at the MGM Grand.

During a TV interview as his Las Vegas gym Mayweather explained that due to what he considered excessive punishment received in his most recent bout a May 2012 unanimous-decision victory over Miguel Cotto that he wanted to reunite with the man who taught him to box in the first place.

Mayweather’s Uncle Roger Mayweather had been his trainer and was present during the interview.
