(Washington, DC) — Senator Dean Heller says he will vote against a bipartisan bill supporters hope will prevent gun violence.

The Senate plans to vote today on the proposal and several amendments, including one to expand background checks for gun purchases at gun shows and online.

The Nevada Republican believes “very strongly” in keeping guns out of the hands of felons and the mentally ill. But Heller says the bill, “infringes upon the Constitutional right to keep and bear arms.”
