Las Vegas CBS KXNT- Clark County Commissioners are scrutinizing nine resumes submitted by the people vying to replace former state Assemblyman Steven Brooks. Next Tuesday’s commission agenda includes discussion of the Brooks replacement.

On Monday night, the nine are expected to attend a candidate forum for the public. Yvette Williams of the Clark County Black Caucus says she worked with with several Democratic organizations to put together the forum, to give residents of District 17 a chance to meet the candidates before Tuesday’s commission meeting.

It’s not certain whether the commission will appoint someone on the spot Tuesday, but it’s likely, because the legislative session is ticking away with an empty seat.

The event is being held at 6 p.m. in the county commission chambers. Williams says anyone will be able to ask questions of the candidates. The commission will consider an appointment at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday.
