LAS VEGAS (AP/KXNT) — A report puts Nevada among eight states with teen moms most likely to have more than one child.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report released this week found Nevada, Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, Georgia and Louisiana had teen repeat pregnancy rates greater than 20 percent.

That means that one in five births to mothers ages 15 to 19 are repeat births.

Nevada lawmakers are considering requiring schools to provide medically accurate sex education.

Planned Parenthood of Southern Nevada spokeswoman Annette Magnus tells the newspaper that teens aren’t getting information to make good choices.

Southern Nevada Children First chief Monique Harris says about one-third of the 400 young moms the nonprofit served last year had more than one child.
