(Las Vegas, NV) — A Las Vegas man is facing attempted murder charges after his wife accused him of trying to set her on fire. According to the police report, 40-year-old Christian Ellis and his wife, Melissa, got into a fight Monday evening at their home near Cimarron Road and Grand Teton Drive. The wife claimed her husband got upset when she wouldn’t allow him to drive because he was intoxicated.
Police say Ellis grabbed a can of gasoline and a blowtorch from the garage and then dosed the house and his wife with gasoline
Melissa Ellis was able to grab the couple’s son and leave the house. She contacted a neighbor, who called police.
When officers arrived, Ellis barricaded himself in the house for a short time, but he was eventually taken into custody.
He is now facing attempted murder and arson charges because he tried to light his wife on fire.
