(Macau) — Gaming records have been shattered in Macau.

The government says casinos in the Chinese enclave took in more than $3.9 billion during March, a 25-percent increase from a year ago. That’s the highest monthly total ever.

By contrast, casinos on the Las Vegas Strip took in just over $6 billion for all of 2012.

MGM Resorts, Wynn Resorts and Las Vegas Sands operate casinos in Macau.
