(HENDERSON, NV KXNT)–Police detectives arrested a 30 year old Boulder City man in connection with the attempted abduction of a six year old girl in a city park on Sunday morning.

30 year old James Allen is being held without bail at the Henderson Detention Center after his booking on charges of kidnapping, child abuse, and burglary.

Police say he was arrested Tuesday afternoon and was in proximity to an older, faded red Volkswagen which witnesses described as being driven by the man fleeing Mountain View Park off Wigwam.

Police spokesman Keith Paul tells KXNT it was that witness information, coupled with contact from a citizen following news accounts of the attempted kidnapping that led them to Allen.

Witnesses told police a man grabbed the six year old as she exited a restroom, and tried to place his hand on her mouth. The girl screamed, and the man fled. Policed say the child was unhurt.
