(LAS VEGAS, KXNT)–Does Nevada need an official state dog? One state lawmaker thinks so, and has submitted a bill naming the Blue Weimaraner as the preferred pooch.
Senator Ben Kieckhefer was doggone serious in submitting a bill to make the favorite breed of many hunters as the official dog.
Some other states have an official dog, but none have named the Blue Weimaraner. The Senator says he’s doing this as a favor for a constituent, who’s 9-year old son has taken on a project to have state dog designated in Nevada.
Some fellow Senators began barking, others derisively jeering the bill when it was introduced in Carson City Friday. Kiekhefer says he has two dogs, a Lab and a Pug. One fellow Senator says his beagle and poodle will object to this bill.
