Inmate Dies, Jailers On Leave

(LAS VEGAS, KXNT)–A Clark County Detention Center Inmate who struggled with jailers last week has died.

Police say 38 year old Luis Solano,  jailed on cocaine and marijuana charges, resisted officers’ attempts to restrain him. Police say there was an extended, three-minute struggle to subdue the inmate, after which police say they Solano was unconscious and having difficulty breathing. He was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition.

Wednesday, nine days after the incident, Solano died. The cause and manner of death have not been determined by the Coroner’s Office.

Police say their investigation into the incident is continuing, and three corrections officers and a sargeant have been placed on routine paid administrative leave.
