Deputies Stumped By 13 Dogs Shot, Dumped At Fallon
RENO, Nev. (AP) — Deputies investigating the shooting deaths of more than a dozen dogs dumped near a rural Nevada town suspect they all came from the same place but don’t have many leads to work with.
Churchill County Sheriff Ben Trotter says the death toll climbed to 13 Monday when a Reno TV news crew found two more carcasses to add to 11 discovered previously on the outskirts of Fallon.
The county’s Animal Protection Service has been combing records for possible clues based on lists of people who found dogs or were trying to place them.
Director Teresa Summers says they have no idea where the dogs came from but says all appeared to be in good physical condition at the time of their death. She told The Associated Press, “We are dumbfounded.”
