(Las Vegas, NV) — A 52-year-old man was shot during an exchange of gunfire Sunday night in North Las Vegas. Chrissie Coon is with the NLVPD and told KXNT how the situation started.
“We received a 911 call from occupants inside the home with thoughts that he was going to hurt himself.”
The man was trying to injure himself with multiple weapons, according to authorities.
“Officers were on scene for 40-45 minutes and during a confrontation the suspect fired at officers and two officers returned fire,” according to Coon.
The suspect was taken to UMC in critical condition, but has since been upgraded to serious. Coon also told KXNT the status of the two officers who were involved in the shooting.
“One is a five-year veteran; the other is a six-year veteran of the North Las Vegas Police Department. They have both been placed on paid administrative leave which is routine for something like this.”
