(Las Vegas, NV) –A tax on guns and ammunition may be on the way to Nevada.
Assembly Majority Leader William Horne, D-Las Vegas, has proposed legislation that would create a tax of $25 per firearm and 2 cents per round of ammunition.
Horne suggests the money go to help fund mental health in the Silver State.
However, the legislation will have an uphill battle, because in Nevada it takes a two-thirds majority in both the Senate and Assembly to raise taxes.
Governor Brian Sandoval has vowed to veto any new taxes.
