Democratic Leaders Aim To Create Jobs

(Las Vegas, NV) — Before the 77th session of the Nevada Legislature began, members of the Democratic Party vowed to be transparent while relaying their legislation to the public. Tuesday, party leaders released four pieces of legislation designed to create jobs in Nevada.

Majority Leader Mo Denis, Finance Committee Chair Debbie Smith and Commerce, Labor and Energy Committee Chair Kelvin Atkinson and Natural Resources Committee Chair Aaron Ford all have legislation that will be heard on Thursday.

The Senate Democrats have urged other lawmakers to back their legislation in an effort to put Nevada’s middle class back to work.

The key pieces of legislation (see below) surrounds unemployed workers, road improvements, luring business to Nevada and the Knowledge Fund. All the legislation can be viewed at the Nevada Legislature’s website. http://www.leg.state.nv.us/

 

  • MBT reduction for hiring unemployed Nevadans (Senator Smith SB 172)
  • Increase in Knowledge Fund investment (Senator Smith SB 173)
  • Film incentive bill (Senator Ford/Assemblyman Aizley SB 165)
  • Infrastructure funding (Senator Atkinson SB 171)
