(Carson City, NV) — You could be paying more for high calorie fast food.

A bill introduced in the Legislature would impose a five-cent fee on food items with at least 500 calories.

It’s sponsored by Assemblyman Harvey Munford, who says its goal is to fight childhood obesity. He suggests money collected from the fee be used for public education.

The Las Vegas Democrat also introduced a bill that would ban pedestrians from sending text messages while crossing a highway.
