LAS VEGAS (AP) — Clark County firefighters say a man has been arrested on arson and attempted murder charges after a fire that displaced 23 people over the weekend.

Officials say 33-year-old Salvador Hernandez was booked in connection with the fire Sunday morning at the Sonoma Shadows Apartments on Karen Avenue.

Crews say one person was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. They also say a person was rescued from a balcony during the fire.

Authorities say most of the residents were displaced because electricity was cut to the building, while seven people were displaced because of fire damage to their apartments.

Damage is estimated at $400,000.
