(Carson City, NV) — Assemblyman Steven Brooks is no longer a member of the Democratic caucus.

Leaders removed the North Las Vegas lawmaker yesterday, saying it was in the best interests of everyone “to part ways.”

Brooks was arrested last month on charges he threatened Speaker Marilyn Kirpatrick.

He had asked for leave with pay to deal with medical problems, but later changed his mind.

A special committee will consider Brooks’ future in the Assembly.
