Embattled Assemblyman Taking Leave of Absence

Ongoing treatment for medical issues

( Carson City, NV ) After being sworn in with the rest of the Legislature, Steven Brooks, the 40-year-old Assemblyman from North Las Vegas accused of making threats against the Speaker of the Assembly, will then step away for treatment of what are said to be ongoing physical and mental health issues.

Brooks was arrested three weeks ago with a gun in his car following a traffic stop. No formal charges have been filed against him, but Brooks was later taken from his grandmother’s house for medical evaluation following an incident with a sword.

KXNT is following this story and will keep you updated on the opening day of the 2013 Legislative session.
