(Las Vegas, NV) — The nation’s fifth-largest school district is facing tough challenges this year.

In his second State of the District address yesterday, Superintendent Dwight Jones says the Clark County School District will find it hard to make further budget cuts, on top of $600 million in cuts made over the past five years.

Jones says his priority is to keep as many teachers as possible, and to get more state funding during this year’s Legislative session. He also says more needs to be done to improve both student performance and graduation rates in the Las Vegas Valley.
