(North Las Vegas, NV) — Former State Senator John Lee is hoping to become the next mayor of North Las Vegas.

The Democratic lawmaker says he’ll run for the office now held by Shari Buck.

Lee says North Vegas residents, “pay more taxes than any other city, yet we have fewer police, fewer firefighters, decaying infrastructure.”

Lee had served in the Legislature for 15 years.

Buck is expected to seek another term as mayor.
