Flu Season On The Prowl In Las Vegas
(Las Vegas, NV) — The flu has claimed 12 victims in the early stages of the 12-week season. The Southern Nevada Health District made the confirmation through the first five weeks of the season.
Senior Epidemiologist Bryan Labus told KXNT that shots are available at clinics, doctor offices and the health district.
Labus also wants the public to be aware that washing your hands is the best way other than the flu shot to stay healthy.
As long as you are in contact with other people you are susceptible to the disease, Labus added.
Children and seniors are most susceptible to the flu. Across the country 2,300 people have been hospitalized with the flu, and 18 children have died from the virus.
The vaccine that is being used is very strong and is a good match to battle the flu.
