(Las Vegas, NV) — Health care reform could be costly for University Medical Center.

Hospital CEO Brian Brannman told county commissioners yesterday the Affordable Care Act will result in less funding for treating indigent patients, and will not cover undocumented immigrants.

Brannman estimates UMC will lose over $50 million through 2019.

Clark County Commissioners will hold a special meeting this afternoon on whether to endorse a plan that would turn control of UMC over to a full-time board. It still needs approval from the Legislature.
