(Carson City, NV) — A group of Republican women are blasting party leaders for sidelining the only female in the state Senate.
The “Las Vegas Sun” says a group of GOP women’s groups have written a letter, accusing Minority Leader Michael Roberson and other lawmakers of “relegating women to the sidelines of politics.”
At issue is the removal of state Senator Barbara Cegavske from the Senate Finance Committee. Roberson says he has a “great deal of respect” for Cegavske, calling her “”an important part of our caucus.”
Democratic Senate Majority Leader Mo Denis, who’s Latino, says his party has “male, female, Hispanic, African-American and openly gay” members in both houses of the Legislature.
The new session kicks off February 4th.
