The following has been released by the government of Clark County:

Purchasing analysts and other staff from numerous Clark County departments will be available to meet with local business representatives at the “Meet Your Customer Day” event Wednesday, Jan. 23 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Clark County Government Center rotunda at 500 S. Grand Central Parkway in downtown Las Vegas.

Local minority-owned, woman-owned, small, physically challenged, veteran and disabled veteran business enterprises interested in supplying Clark County’s business needs will have a chance to meet various representatives of Clark County departments and purchasing analysts in partnership with agencies including:

• The Nevada Small Business Development Center’s Business Success Center
• SCORE Counselors to American’s Small Business-Southern Nevada Chapter
• Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada
• State of Nevada, Governor’s Office of Economic Development
• Akers and Associates, Inc.
• Foundation for Independent Tomorrow (FIT)
• University Medical Center
• University of Nevada Cooperative Extension

“Clark County spends millions of dollars a year on supplies and services and we’d like as much of that as possible to go to Southern Nevada businesses,” said Commissioner Lawrence Weekly. “We also want to ensure that disadvantaged businesses have an opportunity to compete for the County’s business, which is why an event like this can be so helpful.”

Commissioner Chris Giunchigliani agreed. “Getting just one contract with the County could help a small business to survive, particularly in the current economic climate. Expanding the pool of businesses able to meet the County’s needs also can pay dividends for taxpayers in the form of lower prices for goods and improved services.”

Purchasing staff will be available to assist businesses with registering in the County’s Supplier Registration Database, which is used to notify businesses when opportunities arise to provide supplies and services. Advanced registration for the event is not required. Local business representatives can simply show up. For more information, please call (702) 455-4432 or 455-3092. The event is organized by the County’s Department of Finance’s Purchasing and Contracts Division.
