LAS VEGAS, NV – In what felt like a scrimmage, the UNLV men’s basketball team had an easy time with Division III La Verne Thursday night, winning 91-44 at Orleans Arena.
Rebels’ freshman power forward Anthony Bennett led the way with 27 points and 14 rebounds.
The game saw the debut of freshman point guard Daquan Cook. UNLV Coach Dave Rice initially planned to redshirt Cook this season. However, Rice changed his mind and played Cook 17 minutes against La Verne. Cook had four points and three assists and committed three fouls.
The 20th ranked Rebels improve to 8-1, winning their sixth straight game.
Next up for UNLV is a game Monday night at UTEP.
