PHOENIX (AP) — Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer’s office says she’ll be absent from the state nearly all this week but her spokesman won’t say where she is.
Brewer spokesman Matthew Benson did not immediately return calls from The Associated Press asking about Brewer’s absence.
Benson said in a brief email to the AP that Brewer is out of the state on official business and unavailable to participate in the general election canvass Monday morning.
Benson’s email adds that is all he can disclose at this time.
Under the Arizona Constitution, Secretary of State Ken Bennett is acting governor because Brewer is out of the state.
Bennett says his office received the customary notification of Brewer’s absence late Friday.
Bennett spokesman Matt Roberts says the notification said Brewer would be gone Sunday to Saturday.
