(Las Vegas, NV)  —  The state Public Utilities Commission has approved a plan for NV Energy customers who don’t want a “smart meter” in their home.

Those who opt out of the “NV Energize” program will pay a one-time fee of around $100, and eight dollars a month.

The utility has agreed to replace the wireless meter with a traditional model that has to be read manually.
