(Las Vegas, NV)  –  Clark County is out of the running for a federal Race to the Top grant.

The nation’s fifth-largest school district failed to make the final cut.

The district was seeking $40 million in funding for at-risk students.

A battle with the school district’s teachers union almost prevented the grant application from being submitted, until Governor Brian Sandoval mediated a truce.
