Las Vegas – Bishop Gorman graduate Shabazz Muhammad made his college debut for UCLA on Monday night, in a 78-70 upset loss to Georgetown, in the semi-finals of the Legends Classic in Brooklyn.
Muhammad, one of last year’s most highly recruited players, finished with 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting and was 2-for-4 from 3-point range.
Muhammad was declared eligible by the NCAA on Friday. The NCAA ruled that UCLA’s sanctions against Muhammad were sufficient after the school required him to sit out three games and repay $1,600 in impermissible benefits. The NCAA and UCLA found that Muhammad accepted travel and lodging during three unofficial visits to Duke and North Carolina.
Georgetown will face #1 Indiana Tuesday night in the Legends Classic Final, while #11 UCLA takes on Georgia in the consolation game.
