PHOENIX, Ariz. (CBS Las Vegas/AP) — An Arizona mother is facing child abuse charges after being accused of leaving her 6-year-old daughter at a Phoenix McDonald’s.
Police say 23-year-old Lucy Parra had spent the last week in jail on a warrant for driving on a suspended license. After being released Wednesday morning, she picked up her daughter from school, went shopping and then stopped at McDonald’s.
Parra is accused of driving away after her daughter went into the restaurant. According to The Arizona Republic, the girl came back out of the restaurant with two adults who helped her look for her mother. They could not find her mother so employees called police.
Police say Parra eventually returned to look for the girl.
Investigators learned that Parra had also left two other children at a relative’s home.
Police say Parra has had her rights to her children taken away by Child Protective Services. The 6-year-old girl is now in CPS custody.
