(Las Vegas, NV)  —  The Nevada Cancer Institute will close its doors by the end of the year.

The NCI filed for bankruptcy at the beginning of the year. It was then taken over by the University of California San Diego which originally said it wanted to keep the institute going. The “Review-Journal” reports the UCSD will shut down the institute December 31st.

Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada is expected to take over some of the medical practice and lease a part of the institute’s Summerlin building.

UCSD was the only bidder for the Cancer Institute in January, after it filed for bankruptcy protection.
