(LAS VEGAS, NV) – It was as good as advertised for the highly-touted UNLV recruiting class in the season-opener.

Freshman Anthony Bennett, the 6-foot-8 forward from Findlay Prep, scored 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the 18th-ranked Runnin’ Rebels to a 92-54 rout of Northern Arizona, in front of 18,187 at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Other newcomers had impressive debuts, sophomore Bryce Dejean-Jones, a transfer from USC, made 3-of-4 3-pointers en route to 15 points and freshmen Katin Reinhardt scored 14 points.

The Rebels blew the game open with a 21-0 run, scoring the final 16 points of the first half and the first five points of the second half.

Senior guard Anthony Marshall had 14 points and six assists for UNLV (1-0).

The game was part of the eight-team Global Sports Classic. Next up for the Rebels, Jacksonville State on Saturday, also at the Thomas and Mack.
