(Las Vegas, NV)  –  A measure to restart the coroner’s inquest process is on hold.

County Commissioner Chris Giunchigliani wants to modify the code to comply with a recent Nevada Supreme Court decision.  She says a discussion will be held at the December 4th commission meeting, and her ordinance will be reintroduced a few weeks later.

It will allow hearing masters, not justices of the peace, to oversee cases involving officer-involved shooting deaths.

Because of legal challenges, 20 cases are still awaiting an hearing.
