SAN LUIS, Ariz. (AP) — A Mexican man has been arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle more than 15 pound of methamphetamine into southern Arizona.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers say 25-year-old Jose Fernando Sanchez-Rocha was referred for additional inspection of his vehicle at the San Luis Port of Entry.

A CBP narcotics detection dog alerted to the presence of drugs in the rear seat area. Officers say they located the methamphetamine in the support beam above the rear axle.

Authorities say the meth had an estimated street value of $237,000.

The drugs and vehicle were seized. Sanchez-Rocha was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.

Authorities didn’t immediately know Wednesday whether Sanchez-Rocha had an attorney yet.
