(Las Vegas, NV) — The federal government now has the Clark County School District’s application for $40 million in education funding.
Governor Brian Sandoval helped broker a deal between the district and the teachers union, allowing the Race to the Top application to go forward just hours before deadline.
If approved, the nation’s fifth-largest school district will get money for additional teachers and more help for at-risk students.
The Clark County Education Association had refused to sign off on the application.
An announcement on the grant could come by the end of the year.
