(Las Vegas, NV) — Students from seven area high schools converged on city hall Tuesday as part of the Ward 5 Teen Town Hall.
Councilman Ricki Barlow hosted the event to provide a forum for teens to talk about issues that most concern them.
Topics such as bullying, texting-and-driving and higher education all were discussed, but Super Storm Sandy seemed to be on the minds of many.
Las Vegas Academy student Adrian explained why preparation is so important. “What we have to really look at with each natural disaster that comes with America is preemptive measures. If we are not looking at that it will be a vicious cycle of neighborhoods destroyed, people lost and no survival for America.”
And LVA student Alexander took his classmate’s sentiment a bit farther. “The only way we can get involved with something like this is to be told. It’s going to happen. We are going to want to help.”
The event is the 12th annual for the City of Las Vegas.
