(Carson City, NV)  –  Convicted sexual predators have been told to stay away from children this Halloween.

The Department of Public Safety says parole and probation officers are telling offenders to avoid contact with kids on October 31st, and not to take part in any Halloween-related event that kids will attend. Registered offenders are also not allowed to give candy to trick-or-treaters or decorate, and must keep their lights off to avoid attracting children.

Metro police have provided parents with a website to help track registered offenders. Visit the link to Offender Watch for more information.

The DPS’s “Operation Scarecrow” is now in its eighth year.
