Las Vegas – The Runnin’ Rebels basketball team is ranked No. 19 in the Preseason USA Today Coaches’ Poll, which was released on Wednesday.
It marks the first time the Runnin’ Rebels are in the preseason top 25 of the coaches’ poll since they were No. 23 to begin the 1992-93 season, a span of 20 years. In addition, UNLV’s No. 19 ranking this year is its highest in the preseason poll since it began the 1990-91 season as the nation’s top-ranked team. It is also the highest a Mountain West team has been ranked in the coaches’ poll to start a season since former member Utah was No. 15 in 1999-2000.
Fellow Mountain West-member San Diego State is also ranked in this year’s preseason coaches’ poll at No. 20, while other conference teams New Mexico and Colorado State are both receiving votes.
