(Las Vegas, NV) — Nearly 1800 Las Vegas cab drivers have rejected a proposed contract.
The United Steelworkers Union says nearly all of the drivers turned down the proposal by Frias, which owns five local cab companies.
At issue was contract language the USW says “erodes seniority rights.”
The current contract between the union and Frias ended last month, but talks are continuing under an extended agreement.
The vote gives the USW negotiating committee the authority to call a strike.
