NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) _ Vice President Joe Biden continued a two-day visit to battleground Nevada with an appearance at a Democratic campaign rally in North Las Vegas.

Biden on Thursday derided the campaigns of Republican challenger Mitt Romney and vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan as being built on negative views of “makers” and “takers” in America, with half the population dependent on the other for support.

Biden called for support for re-electing President Barack Obama.

With Obama set to debate Romney on foreign policy in Florida, Biden also referred to differences in Republican and Democratic plans for ending war in Afghanistan.

Campaign officials say about 600 people gathered for the rally at a union vocational center several miles north of the Las Vegas Strip.

Early voting starts Saturday in Nevada.
