Prison Guards Complain Of Understaffing
(Carson City, NV) — Prison guards say understaffing has left them vulnerable.
The “Las Vegas Sun” says at least one corrections officer told the state Prison Board yesterday there are 180 inmates for every guard at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center.
Corrections Department chief Greg Cox contends staffing levels are adequate, but some board members want an independent study.
The proposal is expected to be discussed at the next regular board meeting.
