(Las Vegas, NV) — Liberty High School will celebrate Green Week through Friday in conjunction with the Clark County School District’s Operations Department and many other community partners and sponsors in the Las Vegas Valley.
The pilot program includes a number of exciting events designed to help raise environmental awareness and teaches students how they can make more eco-friendly choices.
Josh Wikler is the Director of Communications at Liberty and told KXNT what some of the activities entail.
“All the kids will have an opportunity to travel through an exhibit and to get information to put into effect both on our campus and in their lives to be conscious and green.”
Tuesday will see a guest speaker on campus as well as Information Walk around campus featuring Green Week sponsors (including Republic Services, Home Free Nevada, Workforce Connections, NV Energy, Green Building Council and more) in addition to “green” giveaways.
Wikler also told KXNT about a student favorite. “The kids are actually going to go through teachers’ trash cans and audit what could have placed in a recycle bin and what couldn’t.”
Other events include guest speaker David Gibson from Envirolutions, students competing for prizes in a can toss competition, a waste audit, as well as students competing in a recycling bin decorating contest.
