LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say a 61-year-old man faces felony charges including attempted murder after he was accused of spraying another man with gasoline and setting him afire during an argument outside at a Las Vegas convenience store.
Patrick Newell was being held Monday on $20,000 bail at the Clark County jail pending an Oct. 25 court appearance following the attack at a store on South Las Vegas Boulevard.
Police Officer Laura Meltzer says the 37-year-old victim was hospitalized at University Medical Center after the Oct. 10 attack with fire inhalation injuries and burns on his left side and arms.
KLAS-TV cites a police report saying that Newell confronted the man about leaning on his truck and displayed a pocket knife before spraying gasoline on the man and setting him afire.
