Las Vegas – The Rebels were up 31-14 at the half against cross state rival Nevada Saturday afternoon at Sam Boyd Stadium, but gave up 28 second half points to lose 42-37.
The Rebels were out gained 283 to 111 total yards in the second half. Nevada’s Stefphon Jefferson rushed for 185 yards and three touchdowns. UNLV’s Tim Cornett rushed for 129 yards and a touchdown in the loss.
Nevada has now beat the Rebels 8 straight games and will retain the Freemont Cannon for another year. The Rebels last beat Nevada in 2004.
