(Las Vegas, NV) —  A federal magistrate ordered an 18-year-old self-proclaimed militia leader to remain in custody following his arrest on felony firearms and explosives charges.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports U.S. Magistrate Judge George Foley Jr. ruled Wednesday that Steven Matthew Fernandes poses a danger to the community.

Court documents say FBI agents from the Southern Nevada Joint Terrorism Task Force found weapons, explosive and bomb-making materials during a Sept. 13 raid at Fernandes’ home.

Agents also found a loaded shotgun and more than 50 rounds of ammunition in Fernandes’ car.

Prosecutors say Fernandes talked with FBI sources about wanting to stage an attack larger than the July 20 shooting that killed 12 people and injured 58 at a movie theater in Aurora, Colo.

Fernandes faces trial Dec. 3.
