Las Vegas – UNLV head basketball head coach Dave Rice announced Friday that sophomore Bryce Dejean-Jones sustained fractures of his third and fourth metacarpal bones in his left hand during the Runnin’ Rebels’ team workout on Thursday. Dejean-Jones is expected to be in a cast for the next 4-6 weeks.
A 6-5 guard from Los Angeles, Calif., Dejean-Jones transferred to UNLV from USC after the 2010-11 season and sat out of games last year, but practiced with the Runnin’ Rebels as a redshirt all season.
“We have all seen how hard Bryce has worked to get ready for the season,” Rice said. “I know he will work equally hard to be ready to play when he is cleared from this injury. This is adversity for Bryce and for our team and we will all support him as he goes through this.”
